Portable radio tester

Agilent has introduced a rugged, portable radio tester that enables one-button testing of FM and SINCGARS (single channel ground air radio system) radios at both the operational and intermediate military testing levels.

The diagnostics available through the L4600A’s one-button operation reduce training and troubleshooting time.

Technicians can use the built-in spectrum analyser, network analyser, signal generator or signal analyser to eliminate the need for multiple pieces of test equipment.

The instrument’s rugged, weather-resistant design enables reliable field operation. A magnesium alloy housing provides both a lightweight, durable structure as well as enhanced RF shielding and integrated heat distribution — a critical element, since the L4600A is fully seealed (no fans or vents) for advanced dust and moisture protection.

The transflective colour display enables users to view data in direct sunlight, darkness and shade, while backlit keys also allow the tester to operate under all lighting and weather conditions.

The test set’s architecture is designed for expansion and in-field upgrades, incorporating additional functionality as newer testing technology becomes available, including JTRS radios up to 2.5 GHz.

The unit operates over an expanded frequency range of 2 MHz to 2.5 GHz and features a hot-swappable battery. Full span measurement speed is \<17 ms/point and reference level range is -150 to +100 dBm.
