Power Parameters Hioki 3280 series of clamp testers

Thursday, 28 October, 2010 | Supplied by: Power Parameters Pty Ltd

The Hioki 3280 series of clamp testers with double opening jaws enables clamping of conductors up to 33 mm in diameter and 35 mm (model 3288 and 3287) even in confined spaces.

They are available in four versions; a true RMS model (3280-20) and an RMS-indicating model (3280-10) with both having a maximum measurement range of AC current to 1000 A. Two further models, (3287 with an AC as well as DC current range maximum of 100 A and 3288/3288-20 with an AC as well as DC range of 1000 A maximum) are also available.

Sampling techniques in the 3280-20, 3287 and 3288-20 permit accurate measurement of currents with crest factors of typically 2.5 as encountered in applications with high harmonic distortion.

The wide frequency range (from 10 to 1000 Hz) makes them suitable for use with variable speed drives and industrial applications including power electronics.

The clamp testers are designed for use in highly confined situations, having a slim-line construction (only 16 mm at the thickest point) and being 175 mm long. The ergonomic design is suited to both left and right hand operation and the Cat III (600 V) rating gives safe operation in industrial environments.

The digital multimeter function incorporated permits measurements of voltage to 600 AC or DC. In addition there are measurement functions for resistance (from 420 Ω full scale to 42 MΩ) and continuity on the 420 Ω scale.
