Conlab has released a fully packaged radio modem using the Zigbee/802.15.4 protocol. MaxStream model XBP24-PKI-RA and XBP24-PKI-UA enable RS232 or USB wireless connectivity using the latest Zigbee communications protocol.

The modem provides all the benefits in a design that yields three times the range of traditional Zigbee solutions. The 100 mW EIRP XBee-PRO provides up to 1.6 km range and its RS232/USB port makes integration simple.

No configuration is necessary for out-of-the-box RF communications. The modem's default configuration supports a wide range of data system applications.

Advanced configurations can be implemented using AT commands or the free XCTU software. Network topology can be point-to-point or point-to-multipoint.

Features include: ISM 2.4 GHz operating frequency; 250 Kbaud rate; 60 mW (18 dBm) 100 mW EIRP power output; RS232 interfacing port, or USB interface port; RPSMA antenna connector; industrial (-40 to 85°C) temperature rating; networking and low-power modes are software supported.
