Mobile control tower for RAAF
Rohde & Schwarz (Australia) and the Ground Telecommunications Equipment Systems Program Office (GTESPO), representing the Defence Material Organisation, have signed a contract to supply three transportable air operations towers for use by the RAAF.
The towers will be available to assist the local and international community during natural disasters and other humanitarian relief efforts. A separate support contract was also signed.
The managing director of R&S, Tony Grasso, said the contract marks a significant step in the transition from a company which has traditionally supplied vendor equipment to the Australian market to one which is now structured to undertake systems integration activities which comply with DMO requirements.
