Australasia's prime comms industry event

This year’s Comms Connect Melbourne conference and exhibition will officially be the largest critical communications event ever staged in Australia. With more than 80 speakers and a sold-out exhibition hall, it really will be ‘must attend’ event for all industry participants.

Pre-conference workshops will be held on Tuesday, 1 December, followed by the conference and exhibition from 2–3 December. The venue, as always, will be the magnificent Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on the Yarra River, right in the heart of the city.

The organisers have put together a stellar line-up of speakers from around the world, with representatives from government, industry vendors and clients/operators scheduled to share their insights into current and future critical comms trends.

“We’ve been lucky this year to secure some excellent speakers for our delegates and are confident they’ll enjoy what’s been put together,” said Events Director Paul Davis. “We’re also covering a broader range of material than was previously the case — again, we’re confident this will be welcomed by the community.”

The exhibition hall will be packed full of the latest technologies and solutions from more than 90 exhibitors. In fact, so successful is this year’s event that all the exhibitor spaces have been fully booked out!

As the whole business- and mission-critical communications world continues to adapt to changes in the technological and regulatory landscape, new players from different industry sectors are entering the marketplace. So as well as all of the regular vendor participants, visitors can expect to see a number of surprising new companies at Comms Connect Melbourne.

“Comms Connect isn’t just about the radio handset manufacturers anymore — it’s much broader and all-encompassing when it comes to communications for the working world,” said Davis.

“With organisations such as Nokia, Taser and Telstra exhibiting for the first time, I think the profile shift has helped the show grow this year, and the new products will be very interesting for visitors to see.”

Registration options — free or paid

The organising team, recognising that not everyone can spare three days out of their schedule, has put together different packages of one-, two- or three-day paid registrations, plus a free option for those who can only spare a few hours.

Full, paid registration gives you complete access to all of the keynote sessions and all three speaker topic streams (technology, industry, and public safety and emergency management) across the two main days, plus entry to the exhibition hall, as well as the innovative mind-mapping presentation on the second day. It also entitles you to enjoy the morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea catering.

If you’re not able to attend the whole Comms Connect event, don’t worry — you can still get free access (for which you still need to register) to a few of the main sections: the keynote presentations from 2–3 December and the mind-mapping session on 3 December, plus unlimited free access to the exhibition hall.

Expert workshops

Don’t forget that you can also get involved in the pre-conference workshops, hosted by industry experts on 1 December, if you’re looking for more in-depth information than the general sessions offer.

Five different workshops will cover topics such as microwave, LTE, public safety mobile broadband and advanced radio over IP. Tickets can be purchased separately or in combination with the other conference packages. See the Comms Connect website for more details.

“It’s shaping up to be a serious event in the critical communications calendar,” said Davis. “All the major players will be there with the latest technology.

“The scope of expert knowledge available in the conference, combined with the exhibition, means that Comms Connect is the place to be from 1–3 December for industry professionals and end users alike.”
