Fourth scholarship available

Omnitronics has joined with ARCIA to support the education and training initiatives of the association.

Over recent years the Sir Angus Tait Memorial scholarships have been developed by ARCIA in conjunction with Tait Radio Communications and RadioComms Connect and this has resulted in three scholarships for diploma or degree students or a subsidy towards training an apprentice within the radio communications industry.

Omnitronics is now providing a fourth scholarship which will give preference to a local recipient in the WA industry.

John Florenca, the CEO of Omnitronics said: “This year marks Omnitronics’ 30th year of service in Australia. Our success can be largely attributed to strong relationships with long-term dealers and end users and to our team of dedicated employees.

“We value our industry and we appreciate and support the efforts of ARCIA to forge stronger bonds among the various organisations and to promote the industry in general.

“To this end, Omnitronics is particularly pleased to assist these efforts by supporting the training and education of new talent. We believe that, by reinvesting, in even small ways, we can all help advance our industry”.

ARCIA is expanding its services and resources into a wider section of the Australian industry and, as part of this expansion, an industry evening was planned for Perth on 2 June 2011. This was due to provide an opportunity for the industry to get together and network with each other, plus meet the committee of ARCIA and major sponsors, GMG Solutions, AA Radio Services, RF Industries and Tait Radio Communications.

As part of the evening, a guest speaker from the ACMA outlined the state of the spectrum with regard to the land mobile radio sections.

Chris Kelly, ARCIA president, said the support from Omnitronics is well appreciated and shows that a ‘home-grown’ product manufacturer can not only design and manufacture products for the world markets, but can also be a ‘good corporate citizen’ by encouraging industry training and getting behind the industry association.

ARCIA hopes that its members will remember this level of support shown by a local company and will remember that this is another positive indication that the Australian radio communications industry is viable and growing.

ARCIA is proud to have Omnitronics as one of its Sir Angus Tait Scholarship supporters and the association is sure that one lucky recipient in Western Australia is going to see some really positive indication that this is a great industry to be involved in.

Consideration for the scholarships is open to degree or diploma students who are taking a radio communications-related course, with the scholarship amount going towards that part of the course, or to apprentices as a contribution towards training and other expenses.
