Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications are becoming more important in many fields, including in monitoring systems for public safety, energy grids and logistics, to name just a few.

A series of market research reports released by Vodafone indicate that 55% of respondents rank M2M as a key priority and 9% rank it as their number one priority. They go on to report that 94% of companies surveyed already see some return from M2M, with 36% seeing a substantial return.

The industries covered are transport and logistics, energy and utilities, automotive, consumer and retail, and manufacturing.

The reports are available from Vodafone.
