Airbus tests hybrid TETRA/5G network
Airbus has announced that it has successfully completed tests of communications between 5G smartphones and terminals of the Guangzhou Government’s shared radio network and China Telecom’s 5G network in Guangzhou.
Using the company’s Tactilon Agnet application, users from Guangzhou Government agencies achieved interoperability between the two networks, according to Airbus.
The Guangzhou Government’s shared TETRA network, implemented by Airbus, is a hybrid network interconnected with 4G networks from three MNOs (China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom).
The Guangzhou Government Shared Radio Network is one of the biggest city-wide TETRA networks in the world, serving more than 50,000 subscribers from police forces, fire and ambulance services, local utility companies and the emergency response office, among others.
