DAMM delivers TETRA for Indonesian mining
A digital TETRA communications system has been rolled out by DAMM and partner Wellracom for an Indonesian mining company.
Five 2-carrier DAMM Outdoor Base Station BS421s for voice and data communication have been implemented for PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (Amman Mineral).
“This has been an exciting project for us. It is great for us to demonstrate our ability to deliver communication in challenging conditions,” said Desmond Cheong, Regional Manager at DAMM.
Making million-dollar decisions every day, workers and managers in mines rely heavily on communication to keep the business moving. This means that access to information and communication anytime and anywhere is key both for workers and managers.
“The challenge in the mining industry in Indonesia is to secure communication 24/7 to minimise any disruption to operations,” said Mr Suprapto, Managing Director of Wellracom Group.
To facilitate the gradual migration to the new TETRA system, Amman Mineral has deployed a DAMM TetraFlex Group Bridge, which enables communication between the two different technologies. This has ensured a seamless migration and smooth integration. The site will eventually become fully digitalised.
