DAMM deployed in Oman and Saudi Arabian airports

Increasing numbers of passengers are moving through the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) every year, which is why key airports in the region have adopted the DAMM TetraFlex System to secure critical radio communication.

King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Saudi Arabia, and the Muscat International Airport and Salalah International Airport in Oman, are now using the decentralised TetraFlex System, which includes multisite redundant High Power Indoor Base Stations.

According to DAMM, the built-in application enabled for this system includes a Voice and Data Log System, Group Bridge to interconnect from TETRA to analog radio systems, and the open API for easy integration of applications specific to each airport.

KKIA, located north of Riyadh, served around 19 million passengers in 2013, and is currently expanding its capacity to cater for 35 million passengers. Both Muscat and Salalah International Airports will serve as the new gateway to the Sultanate of Oman, with capacity to handle up to 12 million passengers per year and plans for future expansions.

“The progress in the Middle-Eastern markets clearly demonstrates the reliability of DAMM’s TetraFlex solutions in a very demanding and complex mission-critical environment. The new DAMM Multi-Tech Platform will continue to provide tomorrow’s airports with the right balance between security, simplicity and operational effectiveness,” said Khaled A Karim, regional executive, DAMM.

Allan Detlefsen, CCO, DAMM, said one of the key factors for both Muscat and KKIA choosing DAMM was the ability to easily integrate with third-party applications.
