Finland chooses R&S for air traffic control comms
Air Navigation Services Finland Oy (ANS Finland) has awarded Rohde & Schwarz a contract to supply the Helsinki Area Traffic Control Centre (ATCC) with its VCS-4G voice communications system.
The VCS-4G system will comprise 97 controller working positions (CWPs) for the area control centre (both main and backup), as well as approach and tower positions in Helsinki.
The system will add to the more than 300 R&S Series4200 VoIP radios for voice communication services already installed nationwide.
In addition, Rohde & Schwarz will provide VCS-4G systems for Avia College–Aviation Training Centre, with a total of 80 CWPs in the simulator and training environment plus three more in the test and validation centre.
ANS Finland provides air traffic control services for 22 airports across Finland.
R&S VCS-4G is used in more than 60 countries worldwide, not just for air traffic control but also for offshore drilling sites and other applications.
