nbn network switch necessary as ISS shuts down
The Interim Satellite Service (ISS) will be shutting down on 28 February, meaning that homes and businesses on this service need to switch to an alternative nbn network.
The switch does not take place automatically, and there are currently over 1000 premises connected to ISS across the country that have not taken any action.
“We have been working with our retail service providers for some time now to notify ISS users that they need to switch over to another nbn service,” said State Corporate Affairs Manager Kylie Lindsay.
“This has included numerous phone calls, direct mail, door-knocking and advertisements in newspapers and online news sites.
“However, despite our best efforts to contact people, we anticipate there will be a number of people left without a service by the end of the month.”
End users can choose to switch to fast broadband powered by the nbn network or other mobile solutions.
Residents and businesses still on the ISS who have not yet placed an order for an nbn service need to take the following steps:
- Contact their preferred internet service provider and discuss their requirements.
- Choose a plan that suits their needs.
- Order their service over the nbn network as soon as possible.
Any residents or businesses that are experiencing any difficulties are urged to contact their internet service provider or the nbn contact centre on 1800 687 626 as soon as possible.
