Partnership to produce antenna assemblies

Wednesday, 06 June, 2007

Richardson Electronics has received a contract from Globalstar to produce antenna assemblies for a line of Satcom asset tracking products. The contract represents a total of 60,000 antennas to be delivered over the next two years.

The antenna assemblies are part of a system that provides real-time voice and data services for tracking and monitoring of valuable goods and assets, such as shipping containers located on trucks, maritime vessels or docks.

The RoHS-compliant, bi-directional antennas, to be deployed worldwide, are designed for operation under all weather conditions.

Globalstar products and accessories provide connections in places where cellular and landlines are unavailable. Under terms of the agreement, Richardson will supply Globalstar with RF electronics for six different models of antennas to be used in land-based mobile, seaboard and fixed-use applications, such as buildings or oil rigs.
