R&S to deliver new radios for Evenes airbase
The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (FMA) has awarded Rohde & Schwarz a contract to modernise Evenes Airport with secure communications solutions.
Evenes Airport is being upgraded to become one of two Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) bases and an advanced operational base for F-35 fighter and P-8 maritime surveillance aircraft, with permanent NATO quick response alert contingency and periodic training activities.
The upgrade will see the installation of new HF, VHF and UHF radio systems for military air traffic control (ATC) by Rohde & Schwarz. First deliveries are expected in 2021.
