SpeedCast wins huge energy sector satcom deal
Wednesday, 26 August, 2015
SpeedCast International, a global satellite telecommunications service provider, has been awarded with what it says is one of its largest ever satellite service agreements in the energy sector.
The multiyear, multimillion-dollar contract from an undisclosed global oil and gas service company covers services for both onshore and offshore in Asia-Pacific and Africa.
“Our client has a broad range of challenging requirements and geographic locations where our managed services will provide a critical link to deliver access to their enterprise applications and field data, thereby allowing for real-time operations,” said Keith Johnson, SVP of Energy, SpeedCast.
The initial network design encompasses over 20 countries and hundreds of remotes provided through a fully managed service.
The announcement comes just one month after SpeedCast acquired the assets and customer contracts from NewSat, an Australia-based satellite communications company with significant energy business in Australia.
SpeedCast also acquired Hermes in March 2015, an established UK-based service provider to the energy sector globally, and Geolink in May 2015, a France-based company active in the energy sector in Africa.
Headquartered in Hong Kong, SpeedCast is publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange under the ticker SDA.
