Tait announces shared control channel solution

Tait Communications has announced the Tait OpenTrunk shared control channel solution for industries including education, private security, transportation, manufacturing, logistics, hospitality and others. The range includes portable and mobile radios, infrastructure, accessories, and monitoring and services tools.

The company says the OpenTrunk shared control channel technology is tailored to spectrum-constrained organisations that need reliable, open communications. The demand for spectrum is high, especially in major population centres, and shared control channel licences allow multiple organisations to share the same frequency.

Tait OpenTrunk is based on the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier 3 standard. It addresses shared spectrum conflict through smarter channel management and serves as a blueprint for industry standardisation through the DMR Association Technical Working Group.

The TB7300 Base Station/Repeater is designed to offer scalable coverage and capacity, with options from 1 to 16 sites in an OpenTrunk system. For those requiring higher power output or different power input options, the Tait TB9400 is available.

Tait OpenTrunk supports the DMR standard Application Interface Specifications (AIS), enabling compatibility with a range of third-party applications.

DMR Tier 3 offers higher security due to device authentication and registration to ensure that only authorised devices can access the system. The technology also offers remote access to base stations for network management, including call records, configuration changes and diagnostics. Advanced calling features such as priority calls, call queuing, divert own call, emergency call pre-emption and call interrupt are available as standard features.

Tier 3 also provides fleet management with options such as dynamic regrouping to easily reassign users to workgroups or talk groups for flexibility.
