Superstar II GPS receiver

Wednesday, 05 October, 2005 | Supplied by: GPSat Systems Australia Pty Ltd

NovAtel's GPS receiver - Superstar II - is designed for GPS applications requiring reliable positioning performance with low power consumption and cost.

Its improved carrier-phase tracking gives better positioning accuracy and reliability. Its binary or NMEA interface is suitable for all systems, whether the focus is high throughput or compatibility, and standard support for SBAS (WAAS, EGNOS) corrections means increased accuracy without extra cost or additional equipment.

The device has 12-channel code and carrier-phase tracking for increased accuracy. Position, velocity, time and raw carrier-phase measurements output are available at rates of up to 5 Hz. It also takes advantage of the corrections offered by SBAS systems such as WAAS and EGNOS for improved accuracy. For precise timing applications, it features a 1 pps accuracy of 50 nanoseconds (typical).

The unit is designed as a drop-in replacement for Superstar I. Available in 3.3 or 5 V versions, the receiver also features low power consumption of 0.5 or 0.8 W. System integrators can choose either NovAtel's proprietary L1 family binary format, which allows for high throughput, or the industry-standard NMEA format, to ensure compatibility. For DGPS applications, the device features RTCM SC-104 messages.
