Comms Connect Brisbane — be there on 26 July!

The combined Comms Connect Brisbane conference and ARCIA Dinner and Networking event will take place on Thursday, 26 July, at Rydges South Bank, 9 Glenelg Street, South Brisbane.

Held every year, the event is a chance to catch up on the latest industry developments from those in the know. Whether you’re in the resources sector or public safety, transport or utilities, are a reseller or a manufacturer, the event gives you the opportunity to seek out new technologies and solutions, while learning, sharing ideas and making new contacts.

Full details of the day’s program are online, but here are the topics and speakers to whet your appetite:

  • Beyond the planning — a glimpse into Europe’s PSMB: the technology implementation and likely potential benefits in Australia (Ian Miller, ARCIA)
  • Next-generation mission-critical public safety mobile broadband (PSMB) networks, and their usage (Sohan Domingo, Nokia)
  • The pain and gain of deploying private LTE — a case study (Mark Lewis, Titan ICT)
  • What’s it all about — 5G? (Roger Kane, Vicom)
  • 5G roadmap: pipedream to reality (Dale Stacey, SAT Pty Ltd)
  • Wireless mesh networks explained and applied — what can they do for you? (Grant Jamieson, Wireless Innovation)
  • Li-Fi: mobility for the 2020s (Lawrence McKenna, Wood & Grieves Engineers)
  • A case study on next-generation networks for mission-critical services (Nilesh Joshi, CommTel Network Solutions)
  • IoA/IoT and deliverable use cases — what would be the one question that you would ask your assets if you could? (Brett Orr, Bigmate)

There will also be a half-day workshop on trends in radio spectrum management, led by Peter Hilly and Andrew May of Spectrum Engineering.

The conference will conclude with a panel discussion on the growing footprint of IoT, its delivery, application and outcomes. The panel will be led by Ian Miller, and participants will be Brett Orr, Hamish Duff (ARCIA), Lawrence McKenna and Dr Haider Sabti (Titan ICT).

Following the conference will be the ARCIA Queensland Dinner and Networking event, which will take place on level 12 at Rydges South Bank. This is a great opportunity to join other radio professionals and share the excitement of an energised industry that continues to grow and establish new wireless opportunities. Member and non-member tickets can be purchased with the option of booking a full table of 10 at a discounted rate. The evening will feature pre-dinner drinks and canapés along with ample time to network, as well as a two-course dinner.
