Emergency comms network Bill presented to parliament
NSW Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello is today introducing a Telecommunications Bill into state parliament.
The Bill will build on plans to unite the radio networks used by majority of the state’s emergency services.
“The number one priority of government is the safety of its citizens,” the Minister said.
“Previously, critical government agencies such as NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW SES and NSW Police Force had separate radio networks.
“We are investing $600m to create a single dedicated network for these frontline services. This network will provide far greater coverage and security.
“The Bill that I will introduce today provides the machinery for this generational investment. No other state or territory in Australia is close to what we are about to do,” the Minister said, adding that it is “proof positive that NSW is leading the way in digital transformation”.
